Testimony Corner

As most of you know, we recently had our annual Highschool Youth Retreat. We went to the Zephyr camp past Orange Grove. Take it from me or anyone else that was there, we had a blast! Growth with God without daily distractions of the world, was the main reason for the retreat. I personally grew more at this retreat than on any other trip. I saw God working in others and in myself. I learned more about God as He spoke to me throught the studies of things I had always thought about. We were encouraged to be in God's word more, be ready to go wherever He wants us to be, seek His will, and to always ask God's help when we feel we can't do it. The experiance with the afterglow was awesome. God's presence in the room was truly felt. An amazing time of prayer and encouragement was the highlight. God moved on our hearts to actually pray for eachother and encourage one another face to face. Many people opened up to their closest friends and were prayed for. If you didn't go, make sure you go next time, or go to the other retreats that go on during the year. If you can come, I greatly encourage it. Other events that God has moved us to do will be the DC " Meet Me at The Mall" trip, the annual Jamaica trip, and the Austin camp. If God has given you the heart to go, defininely go. If you have any questions ask Rich or Anita.

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edge sword piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

This is one of the better known Bible verses. But what exactly does it mean by "two edge sword"? Well, when the Bible was being written a two edge sword was one of the most powerful weapons at the time. So by saying that the word of God is more powerful than ANY two edge sword some would consider this an understatement. By using the phrase " division of the soul and spirit" the Author means the word of God is the most powerful thing ever. So if the word of God is the most powerful thing ever, would you want it to be spoken against you? I know that I wouldnt. So would you want to be on the side of the believer and have the word of God, or on the side of the non- believer and have nothing?

~The choice is yours!

"In this manner therefore pray:Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
